Summer 1

In Literacy this half term, we will be studying a narrative text by Christopher Edge called ‘The Jamie Drake Equation’. We will base our writing around this text for this half term.

In Mathematics, we will continue to look at decimals and then we will begin our Geometry work by looking at angles, identifying them and drawing them.

During Science, we will be looking at the relationship between the Earth, Sun and Moon. Children will understand how they move in relation to each other and why the Sun appears to travel across the sky and why the moon changes shape.

Other areas of study will include developing the children’s sporting skills in Hockey and Tennis and creating artwork based on the River Severn and the Ironbridge.

Summer 2

In Literacy this half term, we will carrying out a Geography project on Rivers and Coasts. We will base our writing around this and link it back to our work on the River Nile.

In Mathematics, we will continue to look at geometry. This will include 3D shape and some work on co-ordinates.

During Science this half term, we will be looking at the life cycles of plants and other living things, with a particular focus on animals and humans.

Other areas of study will include continuing to develop the children’s sporting skills in Hockey and Tennis and finishing our artwork based on the River Severn and the Ironbridge.
