William Reynolds - What are we Learning this Term?

1st Half Spring Term:
During this half term, Literacy will be taught alongside Geography and will mainly be focused on the Mountain Environment. In Mathematics we will continue to focus on ensuring complete recall of our times tables; help in supporting your child learn these at home on an ongoing basis is appreciated. We will also learn how to solve problem with missing numbers, and use formulae. During Science, we will look light and shadows. Children will understand how light travels; forms shadows; is reflected and can be manipulated.

PE will be Dodgeball on Thursday and Outdoor and Adventurous on Friday.

2nd Half Spring Term:
During this half term, Literacy will mainly focus on writing based upon a short story by Michael Morpurgo. In Mathematics we will continue to focus on ensuring complete recall of our times tables; help in supporting your child learn these at home on an ongoing basis is appreciated. We shall also work on applying our skills to problem solving and using estimation to check whether our answers are reasonable. During Science, we will look at All Living Things, where we will learn to classify plants and animals, and learn about the role of micro-organisms. Outdoor P.E will be Orienteering before moving onto Rounders: this will take place on Thursday afternoon. During indoor P.E on Wednesdays, children will take part in Gymnastics to learn a routine.

As you will be aware, SAT’s are approaching fast so we will soon be holding an information event. Details will follow shortly.
